New paper: new genetic markers for Ghost bat conservation
Ghost bats are one of the Pilbara’s 5 specially protected species, and now new genetic markers will help WA’s Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions to conserve them.
This new paper includes sex-linked genetic markers developed from two ghost bat genomes (one male and one female) that were sequenced as part of the Oz Mammals Genomics Initiative:
Development and optimisation of molecular assays for microsatellite genotyping and molecular sexing of non-invasive samples of the ghost bat, Macroderma gigas.
Congratulations to the authors!
